Cedar Rapids River Kings: Head Coach Spotlight

Born on September 21, 1985, in Atlanta, Georgia, Coach Clark's roots run deep in the Vine City Community, a place synonymous with the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Sharing the same hometown and high school with names like Booker T. Washington, Clark's early years laid the foundation for his extraordinary journey.

His accomplishments began with the prestigious "Beat the Odds Award" in Atlanta, a testament to his resilience and determination. Growing up in the shadow of Dr. King's legacy, Clark has embraced the responsibility to inspire and shape lives.

Embarking on a path of athleticism, Clark excelled in Georgia high school football (4A), basketball, and track and field from 2000 to 2004. Notably, he secured the MVP Offensive Player award and contributed to his team's presence in the state finals.

His collegiate years at Stillman College (2005-2009), an HBCU in the NCAA Division II, marked a period of excellence. Clark earned 1st Team All-Conference honors for three consecutive years and established a record for receiving yards per catch at 43.2, showcasing his prowess on the football field.

In 2009, Clark's talent took him to the University of Alabama Pro day, where he worked out for the Cleveland Browns before joining the UFL's New York Sentinels. Subsequently, he ventured into the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes under the guidance of Coach Marc Trestman in 2010-11.

However, it was in the arena of Arena Football Leagues (AFL, IFL, NAL, CIF, IAFL) from 2011 to the present that Clark truly made his mark. With five appearances and an impressive four-time championship title, he became a symbol of resilience and triumph.

Now, as he brings his "Championship Mindset" to Cedar Rapids, Coach Clark envisions not only victories on the field but also the cultivation of a great culture. Dedicated to molding his players into exceptional men both on and off the field, Clark, along with his coaching staff, is on a mission to build a brotherhood that leads by example.

In Cedar Rapids, the "Best Show On Turf" is set to unfold, as Coach Clark spearheads River King Nation towards greatness in 2024.
